Healing foods are eaten when you click the eat button to consume an amount of that food item from your inventory. They will restore your health if you have taken damage from animal or human attacks. Note that they will not diminish your hunger.
The headings 0, 1, 2, 3 and so on divide the foods by healing power. Items under "0" have power 0-0.99%, items under "1" have a power of 1% to 1.99%, and so on. Within each group the items are ordered by power - a more powerful healer will always be further down the list. The exception is foods with over 10 power, which are mixed up with the lower foods - this is a problem that may be fixed at some point.
