The Game Advisory Council (GAC) came into being on 13 February 2009, with an amendment of the Cantr Organizational Constitution, replacing the Game Administration Council which ceased to exist. Whilst the former Game Administration Council was responsible for deciding on all policy changes in Cantr II and for appointing the members of the Game Administration Board and the Finance Officer, the role of the Game Advisory Council is much reduced.

The Game Advisory Council is appointed by the Game Founder or his representative, and is made up of former leading staff members. The Council is intended to provide advice to the Game Founder and Game Administration Board upon request. This advice is mandatory in the case of changes to the bylaws of the Cantr Organizational Constitution.

The exact role of the GAC is defined in the Cantr Organizational Constitution.
