Milk is gathered from killing some wild animals including the cow, mountain goat, sheep and buffalo, as well as from milking or slaughtering certain domesticated animals.

Uses for milk

Milk can be used to make:

• cheese curds using a deck grill, coal oven, gas oven, fire place, oven, primitive oven, or small fire pit
• cornbread with cornmeal and [[eggs] in a coal oven, gas oven, or oven
• grits with corn on a kitchen table
• ice cream with sugar in an iron bucket or a wooden bucket

• nut brittle with honey and nuts using a deck grill or small fire pit
• porridge with barley using a coal oven, deck grill, fire place, gas oven, oven, or small fire pit
• potato salad with potatoes and eggs on a kitchen table or in a mixing bowl
• rice pudding with rice and sugar on a kitchen table or in a mixing bowl
