Basil can be gathered in the wild, or grown in a earthenware flowerpot, earthenware windowbox or in the herb garden.

Uses for basil

Basil can be used to make:

• some apothecary mixtures
• dry basil using a drying rack or a desiccator
• honey using a beehive
• lasagna from stewed tomatoes with pasta, meat, and cheese in a regular oven, coal oven or gas oven.
• pasta with pesto with plain pasta, nuts, and garlic on a kitchen table
• spaghetti with tomato sauce from stewed tomatoes with pasta on a propane campstove
• stewed tomatoes using a tajine
