Made by crushing either hematite, magnetite or taconite on either a stone table or work bench using either a hammer (stone, bronze or regular hammer) or sledgehammer (sledgehammer or bronze sledgehammer).
Hammers and sledgehammmers are not interchangeable in crushing projects. A project with a sledgehammer will process twice as much material per day.
Used for making iron in a smelting furnace or primitive smelting furnace.
Comparison of iron ore from different minerals
Material | Amount needed for 1kg of iron ore |
Yield for 1 day of mining | Amount of iron ore from 1 day of mining |
Processing time (with sledgehammer) |
---|---|---|---|---|
hematite | 1428.5g | 750g (manual) 6000g (fastest) |
525g (manual mining) 4200g (fastest mining) |
.5 days 4 days |
magnetite | 1388.9g | 750g (manual) 6000g (fastest) |
540g (manual mining) 4320g (fastest mining) |
.25 days 2 days |
taconite | 1538.5g | 1500 (manual) 12,000g (fastest) |
975g (manual mining) 7800g (fastest mining) |
.75 days 6 days |
Note: Processing time with regular hammer is double the number of days.
