Dragging is one of the central mechanics of Cantr. It allows moving objects, resources and people between connected locations. Dragging differs from other activities in that it doesn't progress as time passes, instead finishing when a sufficient combined strength has been applied to the project.

Initiating dragging

To initiate dragging on a person, click the four pointed star icon associated with them. This can be found either on the People page or in the dialog that opens when clicking on a person's name in Events.

To initiate dragging an object or a pile of resources, you click on an icon that has a picture of three boxes and an arrow pointing to right, next to the object on the Objects page. In the case of a resource, you can specify how much of the pile to drag. In the past you could only drag the whole pile, requiring cooperation in the case of large piles, but splitting piles was implemented to enable moving large piles without assistance.

It's also possible to drag things out of a building or a vehicle while you're outside of it. This is done by clicking on an icon that has the three boxes and an arrow pointing left. Since you're on the outside, you can't see what you're dragging and the target will be picked at random. People will only be selected after all the movable objects with a weight greater than 0 have been removed.

Assisting with dragging

To assist someone else on dragging, you click on the P icon associated with them. Dragging is invisible to uninvolved people until it's finished, so the only way to see it is by attempting to initiate dragging on a person or an object that's already a target of dragging. This will cause an error message that reveals the names of participants.

Dragging strength and resistance

Dragging strength depends on your physical strength and fighting skill. Fighting skill matters more than physical strength. Your defense value is double your dragging strength, so if you drag a person who has the same dragging strength you do, you will only be able to drag them halfway (50 %). The same applies if you drag yourself. This is negatively affected by tiredness and woundedness, but not starvation. Effectively this means Cantrian characters don't lose weight when they starve, but will always weigh 60000 grams. Characters in near death state are effectively lighter to drag because they have 99 % damage.

Wheelbarrows

Having a wheelbarrow or an improved wheelbarrow will help you drag objects and resources, but not live people. Improved wheelbarrows are better than regular wheelbarrows.
