- Cotton → Cotton fibres → Cotton yarn → Cotton cloth
- Fur
- Hemp → Hemp yarn → Hemp cloth
- Hide → Leather
- Silk cocoons → Silk yarn → Silk cloth
- Snakeskin → Treated snakeskin
- Wool → Wool yarn → Wool cloth
The base materials generally need to be processed in order to make them usable, although there are a few exceptions (the use of hemp fibers in primitive sandals or raw wool in padding reinforced boots; the usage of raw cotton in furniture also deserves a mention).
