What is the difference between Machinery and Tools? Is it just the way they are categorized in the manufacturing menu? Or is there an actual in-game difference in how these items are treated?

My best understanding is that machinery is built permanently at a place, whereas tools are able to be carried around and moved.

Thanks, that makes sense. There are a number of portable machines (campstove, bucket, mixing bowl, etc) ... but it appears that they all have to be placed on the ground in order to be used. Perhaps a "portable machinery" subcategory would be helpful for those of us with nomadic characters. :)
