Made from hemp, cotton or silk yarn using a twiner or simple twiner.

Made into the drying rack, bowstring, burlap sack, gaff mainsail, square mainsail, jib, staysail, topsail and primitive sail. Can be further processed into thin rope using a rope machine.

Trivia: String used to come in three varieties, cotton string, silk string and hemp string. The types were combined to make it possible for the drying rack to be built.
