The shaving horse is a sort of work station used traditionally by coopers and chair bodgers. The identifying feature is the foot operated clamp. It allows for easy and intimate use of drawing tools, like spokeshaves, drawknives and scorpers.

One way of making the medium and large logs. Another is the lathe. The medium log can also be made with an axe wherever there is a primitive sawing post, sawing post, sawing bench, ship sawing bench, or sawing machine
