Preamble

Sabres have a distinct curve, and a hand-guard which covers the knuckles and fingers of the bearer. Heavily used in the 19th century, the Sabre was originally used as a cavalry blade, used to replace the straight-bladed cutting swords of the battlefield. Its use has made it iconic in many armed services, and thus dress-sabres are often available in the real world.
