<img src=http://www.centenaryarchers.gil.com.au/images/bow-parts.GIF aling=right alt="Basic Recurve Bow"> Composite Recurve Bow A recurve bow is one where the bow doubles back on itself, and thus the bowstring touches the bow. This results in more 'springiness' and a faster/stronger arrow flight.

'Composite' indicates that the bow is made of several materials (in the past, sometimes animal cartlidge), further adding to the 'springiness' of the bow.
