The Cantr Chat Channel is an Internet-Relay-Chat (IRC) Channel. A Java applet from the Cantr site is available here.

Alternatively, there are many, free to use, IRC clients available for download. The most commonly used is mIRC, although there are many others available such as ChatZilla(for use with Mozilla), XChat for both Windows and UNIX based systems, XiRCON for windows and ircle for Macintosh.

The set-up details for each client do differ, but they will all need you to input the following information:

Server: irc.gnug.org
Port: 6667
Channel: #cantr

Clicking here may also work if your client is set up with your browser.

You will also need to set your firewall to allow the client to connect. If you can't get connected, please contact the Communications Department

For those not used to IRC irchelp.org is useful. Just remember to type:
/nick
then a space follwed by your desired nickname when you log on.

We will not tolerate spam or excessive swearing on the channel, or any breach of the Capital Rule (See: Game Rules).

For reference, these are the server rules set by gnug.org:
