Oh, sure. Steel is fine for some surgeons. But you know better. You were among the first to create the original platinum scalpel. You actually have a medical license. Okay, maybe it is hastily scribbled out on a note in illegible handwriting, but the very fact that you can't read it proves you are a Real Doctor™. Showing this implement off to your patients screams[1] , "I know where that gall bladder might be. Trust me!" So show it off with confidence!
Being made of platinum, your scalpel is more resilient to the daily elements. However platinum is more malleable than steel, so encountering those occasional pesky bones incurs more wear and tear when you actually use it.
