Wichita:

Wichita is the chair of the [[Resources Department]] and a member of the [[GAC]]. Despite popular initial impressions, Wichita is male. Just because a name ends with the letter a does not make it feminine. He is from Wichita, the largest city in the state of Kansas (Dorothy, Toto, twisters, all that stuff), hence the name. He is also a big supporter of multiple Cantr language regions, playing (poorly) in English, German, Chinese, Finnish, (and Polish? ;) ).

For the gathering methods you used the shovel template for listing the tools (so that it shows both types of shovels), but you didn't use the pickaxe template on the resources that use that as a tool. You probably ought to do it the same either way (bone knives and steel knives have different gathering rates for many materials and should be kept separate). Also note that while the bronze tools can be used in place of the steel/iron ones when working on manufacturing, they currently do not aid in resource gathering (although this will probably be remedied in the near future). The Spatha is a type of straight sword, measuring between 75 and 100 cm, in use throughout the 1st millennium AD. Introduced in the late Roman Empire in the 1st century AD as a cavalry weapon, the Spatha remained popular throughout the Migration period and the Viking Age, until it evolved into the knightly sword of the High Middle Ages from about 1100. Viking Age Spathas are also known as Viking swords.

Originally the Spatha was worn by cavalry officers and auxiliaries in the later Roman armies. Usually a longer version of the shorter, leaf-shaped gladius used by a legionary, the spatha is around 75 - 100 cm long but seldom reached a full metre.

Employed by both Roman cavalrymen and their German enemies, later Lombard spathae were actually more advanced than the wrought iron gladii, being constructed using a form of pattern welding employing layers of iron and steel: in effect, a composite material. Eventually under the later Roman Empire the Spatha was adopted by many if not most legionaries.

During the Viking age, the swords grew slightly in length to 37 in (930 mm) and took on a slightly more acute distal taper and point. These blades had deep fullers running their length, yet still had single handed hilts which often sported a 'brazil nut' shaped pommel. While the pattern of hilt and blade design of this time might readily be called 'The Viking sword' to do so would be to neglect the wide spread popularity it enjoyed. All over continental Europe between 700-1000 AD this design and its small variations could be found.

Originally, “boomerang” just meant throwing stick. The hunter normally did not require a throwing stick to return. Its purpose was to hit and injure its target sufficiently to enable it to be captured, or slow enough for the spear throwers to get into range. A recurve bow is one where the bow doubles back on itself, and thus the bowstring touches the bow. This results in more springiness and a faster/stronger arrow flight.

The term claymore has been used to describe two distinct types of swords used by Scottish warriors and soldiers. The name claymore is thought to be an anglicisation of claidheamh mòr a Gaelic term meaning "big sword", though another theory claims it comes form "claidheamh da lamh", literally two-hand sword. Claidheamh is ultimately cognate with Latin gladius

The first was a large, two-handed sword used in the medieval period. It was used in the constant clan warfare and border fights with the English from circa 1300 to 1700. The last known battle in which it is considered to have been used in a significant number is Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689. It was somewhat smaller than other two-handed swords of the era, and was widely feared because its lightness made it faster in combat than its European counterparts. The two-handed claymore seems to be an offshoot of Early Scottish medieval swords which had developed a distinctive style of a cross-hilt with downsloping arms that ended in spatulate swellings. The average claymore ran about 55 inches (1.4 m) in over all length, with a 13 inch (330 mm) grip and a 42 inch (1 m) blade. Fairly uniform in style, the sword was set with a wheel pommel often capped by a crescent shaped nut and a guard with straight, down-sloping arms ending in quatrefoils and languets running down the center of the blade from the guard.

The second, later, sword to be so designated was a one-handed basket-hilted broadsword popular with Scottish troops in the 18th and 19th centuries. The basket was designed to protect the hand in combat. The latter form of claymore can be seen in some forms of Scottish traditional dance.
